The Bureau of Reclamation was established in 1902 and is considered one of the major federal water agencies. Over the years Reclamation's responsibilities expanded to multiple uses including water development for municipal and industrial uses, generation of hydroelectric power, flood control, and recreation. The Columbia Basin Project is located in the central part of Washington State in the counties of Adams, Douglas, Franklin, Stevens, Okanogan, Grant, Lincoln, and Walla Walla. The Columbia Basin Project (CBP for short), is the irrigation network that the Grand Coulee Dam makes possible.
